Salar de Antofalla Project

Argentina - Lithium & Potassium

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • The property is located in the northern part of the Antofalla Salt Flat, in the same Salar where US company Albemarle acquired extensive lithium properties from local company Bolland Minera, a company that is reported to have defined a significant lithium resource in the central sector of the salt flat:
    • 2.22 million tonnes of lithium (11.8 million ton of LCE) with a conc. of 350 mg/l*
    • 83 million tonnes of potash (KCl) with a concentration of 6,400 mg/l.
  • Sufficiently large exploration area, covering over 13,000 hectares of salt crust and border areas of the salt flat, capable of hosting a significant lithium project.
  • Geological and structural system forming a deep basin along it’s trend, as evidenced by drilling up to 400 m in unconsolidated sediments.
  • Strategic location, located 80 km south of the Tolar Grande Railway Station, 130 km from the Socompa international border pass, and 250 km from the Port of Antofagasta.
  • High to very high solar radiation zone, with an optimal solar evaporation rate for producing lithium and potassium concentrates.

PROJECT LOCATION

Select Lithium - Antofalla Project - Claims Mapantofalla

Located in the North end of the Salar de Antofalla, 40km west of Salar Hombre Muerto (including two significant mining operations, Fénix and Sal de Vida)

Location Highlights:

  • Within North-West Argentina, ~1,350 km northwest of Buenos Aires and 85km north of nearby regional hub town of Antofagasta de la Sierra
  • Within the Lithium Triangle, the world’s leading lithium-brine region, with proven project development and operations
  • On the side of a known brine resource, with brine extending into the Select properties, covering strategic portions of significant lithium zones, adjacent to major company Albemarle and close to Livent
  • Project could support development of pond or Direct Lithium Extraction development, with ideal topographic conditions for pond development

The total area for the entire Salar Antofalla Project is 12,262.40 hectares and comprises two areas:

  • the Antofalla Norte project located in the province of Salta, consisting of four mining claims named Alcalinas 1 to 4, covering an area of 9,200 hectares
  • a southern sector called Antofallita XX, located in the province of Catamarca, which covers an area of ~3,000 hectares

MINING PROPERTIES

ANTOFALLA NORTE PROJECT (Salta Province)

ACCESS TO PROJECT

The mining claims that constitute the Antofalla Salt Flat Lithium Project are located in the interprovincial boundary area between Salta Province (Los Andes Department) and Catamarca Province (Antofagasta de las Sierra Department). This area is situated in the Argentine Puna, at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. Accessed by Provincial highway 43 and unpaved roads

HISTORICAL

2000-2006

The first exploration work for lithium and potassium in the area was carried out by the Argentine company Bolland Minera between the years 2000 and 2006. Based on 56 wells drilled in an area of 265 km2, Bolland has defined a resource for the southern sector of the Antofalla Salt Flat:

  • 2.22 million tonnes of lithium (11.8 million tonnes of LCE) with a concentration of 350 mg/l, and
  • 83 million tonnes of potash (KCl) with a concentration of 6,400 mg/l.

2002-2008

The Brazilian company Vale conducted intensive exploration from 2002 to 2008, focusing on potash. Vale mentioned values ranging from 1000 to 4000 ppm of potash and between 100 to 400 ppm of lithium at depths of up to 400 m for the central and southern sectors of the Antofalla Salt Flat.
